I am a professional make up artist both street and theatre. I am a massage therapist with well over 20 years expierience. And as a mother wife and crafter. I know about glues and how to remove them. Personal expierience. Tessica needs a solvent . Goo Gone will disolve glue including super and guerilla. It comes in a spray bottle. At jewel in cleaning asile or at home depot. It is an oil base. Once applied as it loosens the glue it can be combed out with a pick carefully no pulling. Long process. Then washed out treated tea tree oil olive oil almond old rose water deep conditioning because it is very dried out from glue and alcohol. I really know about it. Please contact me and her

I have tried to reach her as well, I use the spray glue in our business and have to get it off my skin. I have tried thru every way I can come up with to get ahold of her to give her an idea but have had no luck

She needs a babysitter.

The only problem with goo-gone is that it is basically orange essential oil, which can REALLY irritate her scalp. OTOH, so can acetone and superglue, so maybe it's worth a shot.

There are diffrent types. I have used it more than once on hair and skin. Removed 4 diffrent glues i accidently spilled over my fingers and stuck to my hair. LOL, you from Chicago? talking about some "Jewel"

Goo Gone is a product that removes adhesives. This is not a joke. I know from first hand expierience. Yes I am in Chicago. Jewel is grocery store here. But hardware like home depot carries this product. I use it very often.

I agree. I just posted a similar recommendation. Glue or varnish remover will work in small amounts

Goo Gone is oil based solvent not alcohol. I have used it many times. It removes super glue hot glue geurilla glue jewlery glue and the craft glue E 65000. Spray it. Separate it with a pik or fingers . slowly carefully. Then wash with real heavy conditioning shampoo. Her hair needs moisture. For the healing Tea tree oil with aloe takes away pain and infection inside under the skin and on top. I am a massage therapist over 20 years expierience. And a backround in theatre. I wish I could speak to her. I want to help.

So... she knowingly sprayed one of the strongest chemically binding adhesives available into her hair. And then raised $10k for.... some reason. And is refusing to shave off the hair that SHE ruined as she threatens to sue the company that did nothing wrong? Fuck her dude, just shave it off and move on. You already made bank for intentionally being retarded.

I know right, I feel like I am in the freaking twilight zone. Be compassionate and giving to someone who has to shave their head for cancer or some other legit medical reason not someone who is to fucking stupid to know not to put glue on her head. the nerve of her to start a GoFund me because she is a moron is infuriating

THANK GOD someone else sees this too. She knowingly put it on her hair (and even if she didn't know what it was, read the freaking label) and now she's got 20k in donations for a plastic surgeon? Shave your head, accept your own stupidity and move on, girl. People with actual problems like illnesses or accidents need that money. And don't even get me started on her suing the company, if you fucked up it's not their fault. "It didn't say not to put it in your hair" GIRL, it clearly states that it's not for your skin, what in God's green earth is your hair attached to?

Many issues here. For one, Gorilla glue cant be mistaken for hair spray. It is NOT bought in the hair care section. It is bought in a craft section or near a tools section.

Second issue, she can read a bottle.

Third, if it says do not use on eyes or skin, you are an idiot if you spray it on your hair since hair it ATTACHED TO SKIN.

There is no reason she should be suing for her own stupidity.

You don't have things in the back of closets or shelves that somebody else bought? Or that you bought so long ago you don't remember it? That's pretty common in my experience

Expand full comment

Youre gonna sue due to your stupidity? Talk about money hungry!! You should be ashamed of yourself! Why dont some people take responsibility for their own actions...always gotta blame someone else!! Too much of that crap goin on in our country....ill gotten is ill gain

Absolutely love that you're covering this! What warmed my heart when I saw this on Twitter, was how so many in the Black hair community have swarmed to offer her support. As someone who has shaved their head three times due to styling damage, I know the feeling. The moment in her video when we tried not to just break down and cry has been me my whole life. I'm fully invested in Tessica's journey. I'm looking forward to seeing how the black haircare brands respond to this, I hope it's from a point of empathy and not using it as a shaming marketing tactic because we know some folks like to do that (I'm looking at you Shea Moisture!).

I think you really encapsulated the moment. I also wonder if any cosmetic chemists or scientists have reached out to her! We shall see.

To Monica and Amy. I was very serious to help her. Therefore I contacted poison control Goo Gone not goo off. And gave my phone number. Oh well... Finally she went to surgen and is now alright. Thank heavens. Meanwhile some dumb man decided to glue a solo plastic cup to his lip with the same glue. Oh I will lick it off. He said. Wound up in ER. Go figure. He tried to debunk her real pain and suffering. Shame on him.

I honestly feel so sorry this young lady! I don’t think it’s the least bit funny, especially when you see her pain and agony 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 For you

Everything suggested this far seem to be viable solution under usual circumstances. Worst case scenario, go to a plastic surgeon. I know this is extreme, but believe they can provide direction. It doesn't hurt to inquire. Praying for a solution.

Thank you for these updates. I'm praying for her.

Please have her try glue or paint remover. Test on a small section and as soon as you see the glue is breaking up wash it out. If it works then repeat in small sections. It may take a while but I think this will work. Again test in a very small section and only use a few drops

Update; the surgeon was able to remove the glue out of her hair. She had the nerve to say that she should have waited before cutting off her ponytail! I guess you don't need that check anymore! What a stupid lady

First of all why would a 40 year old woman put Gorilla Glue on her head? She has a go fund me page with over $20,000! What the f***!
